Quick Hot Cocoa: Cold Outside? Warm Up In Minutes!

Quick Hot Cocoa

Cold Outside? Warm Up In Minutes!

Hi everybody :)

Is everyone feeling the cool breeze of Jack Frost yet? It's slowly creeping down to the southern states. You want a quick and easy chocolaty solution to warming up in a matter of minutes? This hot cocoa may be your answer. In 5 ingredients or less and 3 minutes over the stove top help makes this recipe a quick fix. It is done in single-servings but can easily be doubled or tripled.

Quick Hot Cocoa adapted Southern Living 1982 Annual Recipes
2 teaspoons cocoa; or to taste
2 teaspoons sugar
; or to taste
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup milk
Miniature marshmallows (optional)

Combine first 3 ingredients in a small saucepan, and bring to a boil,
Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in milk; heat to boiling point (212°).
Top with marshmallows, if desired. Serve immediately. Yield: 1 cup.

What I Did and/or Think:

For Quick Mocha Hot Cocoa add about 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee or 1 teaspoon Kahlua to your mix.

I think this is a good basic recipe, that can be adjusted to your taste so it's worthy of a REPEAT

Cinnamon Bread Pudding & a Bonus: Breakfast Is Served

Cinnamon Bread Pudding & a Bonus: Breakfast Is Served

Hi everybody :)

It's that time again, "Welcome to another Breakfast Is Served Sunday", if you're just tuning in to my blog every Sunday I post a Breakfast Is Served. Last week Breakfast Is Served Sunday's post was a Pink Ribbon Recipe found here.

While browsing through my cookbooks collection I found a  bread pudding breakfast recipe.
I know bread pudding is usually associated with dessert, but the ingredients in this pudding might be a sweet way to start your day :)

Today, I'm making use of homemade bread that I had in the freezer. So if you love baking  homemade breads, this recipe may be a great way to use some of it :)  Let's get it started...

Cinnamon Bread Pudding adapted The King Arthur Flour 200th Anniversary Cookbook

3 tablespoons butter
2 cups Cinnamon Raisin Bread, cubed ( I used Multigrain Cinnamon Swirled Raisin Bread )
2 cups milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt

Butter the slices of bread and then cut into cubes. Place in a buttered baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, beat the rest of the Ingredients together Four this mixture over the bread cubes.
Let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes while you preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes (depending on the shape of your baking dish).

AND a Bonus Recipe YEAH!!!!   Morning Orange Drink

Morning Orange Drink adapted

1 can (6 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup cold water
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
10 ice cubes

Combine the first five ingredients in a blender; process at high speed. Add ice cubes, a few at a time, blending until smooth. Serve immediately. Yield: 4-6 servings.

What I Did and/or Think:
For the pudding; I baked the pudding in individual dishes, at 350 F for about 25 minutes. I drizzled extra maple syrup over top to serve.

For the drinks, I mix them up individually in a mini blender. The taste remind me of orange cream ice cream pop.

Making bread pudding is another first, for me. I love trying new things, at times :) I think the pudding came out great. I also made a orange drink to serve with it, which I like also.
These were surprisingly really good REPEATS!

Now that I tried this recipe I would love to experiment with other bread puddings recipes. "Go forth and conquer" is my new slogan, one recipe at a time :)

ENJOY! Come again...

Lemon Tea Mix: It's Tea Time!

Lemon Tea Mix

Hi everybody :)

Time To Put The Kettle On...It's Tea Time!

I been waiting to share this simple recipe with you all for awhile ... now is the perfect time. With the Fall weather finally arriving, it's time to heat up with a spot of tea :) jokey joke..   get it?... oh well...moving on.

This recipe takes only minutes to prepare, you just toss the ingredients together, blend, and store. Since I was done with it so fast, I did a little crafting project I would like to share also. Let's get it started...

Lemon Tea Mix adapted Gifts That Taste Good

1/2 cup instant tea
1/2 cup sweetened lemonade drink mix
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup finely crushed lemon drop candies

Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor fitted with a steel blade.

Process briefly until ingredients are completely blended. Store in airtight container.

Yield: about 1 1/2 cups of mix

To serve: Add 1 cup boiling water to 1 heaping tablespoon tea mix. Stir until mix dissolves completely.

What I Did and/or Think:

Keeping true to that southern tradition, I love drinking tea; cold icy teas in the Spring/Summer and hot teas Fall/ Winter.  I LOVE this recipe so much that I doubled the recipe.

For Apple Cider Tea Mix - use hot apple cider instead of water

For Peppermint Tea Mix -  add crushed peppermint candy in the place of lemon drops to your tea. I used both :)

In case Fall haven't fully arrived were you are, you might want to serve it over ice for a cool refreshing taste.

My Little Project: Tea Container

Cleaned Plastic Jar with Lid (I used a peanut butter jar)
Glue Gun/ Glue Sticks
Scissor
Silk Flower; optional (I used a Sunflower)
Adhesive Decorative Paper
Permanent maker (Sharpie fine point)
Letter Template

Write the words lemon tea mix on your paper using the template with a pencil. Trace over them with a maker.

Peel adhesive off the back and stick to the jar, press to seal.

Turn the flower over, cut the stem part off.

Glue the petals to the lid of the jar in layers until all are glued. Glue in the middle section.

I know this little project not much to share, but there will be some more coming soon, so stay tune in :)

ENJOY! Come again...
